Chicago, IL: Most dangerous city in the world?

It certainly is no Baghdad, Caracas, or Ciudad Juarez, but Chicago is fast becoming infamous on the world stage for it's extreme levels of gun violence. While America is gripped by mass shootings in movie theaters, Sikh temples, and famous landmarks, the real mass shootings are taking place in the shadows of what was once one of America's greatest cities.

NBC Chicago reports the Windy City as "The Deadliest Alpha City in the World".

While the United States gasps over the 2 dead bodies at the Empire State Building, 19 people were shot in a single night in Chicago the night before.

The difficulty with this is that William McRaven is and admiral not a general. As a SEAL, he is member of the US Navy, not US Army or US Marines. 

Obama has made mistakes with military terminology before. In February 2010, he mispronounced ‘corpsman’ – as ‘corpse-man’ instead of ‘core-man’ several times. 

Last year, he mixed up two Medal of Honor recipients, saying that ‘Jared Monti, was the first person who I was able to award the Medal of Honour to who actually came back and wasn’t receiving it posthumously’.

This goes to show you how out of touch Barack Obama is when it comes to military affairs. I would guess he had absolutely no clue of the basic military command structure and ranking system until a few weeks of Pentagon briefings after inauguration.

Analysis of election factors points to Romney win, University of Colorado study says

A University of Colorado analysis of state-by-state factors leading to the Electoral College selection of every U.S. president since 1980 forecasts that the 2012 winner will be Mitt Romney.

The key is the economy, say political science professors Kenneth Bickers of CU-Boulder and Michael Berry of CU Denver. Their prediction model stresses economic data from the 50 states and the District of Columbia, including both state and national unemployment figures as well as changes in real per capita income, among other factors.

“Based on our forecasting model, it becomes clear that the president is in electoral trouble,” said Bickers, also director of the CU in DC Internship Program.

According to their analysis, President Barack Obama will win 218 votes in the Electoral College, short of the 270 he needs. And though they chiefly focus on the Electoral College, the political scientists predict Romney will win 52.9 percent of the popular vote to Obama’s 47.1 percent, when considering only the two major political parties.

“For the last eight presidential elections, this model has correctly predicted the winner,” said Berry. “The economy has seen some improvement since President Obama took office. What remains to be seen is whether voters will consider the economy in relative or absolute terms. If it’s the former, the president may receive credit for the economy’s trajectory and win a second term. In the latter case, Romney should pick up a number of states Obama won in 2008.”

Their model correctly predicted all elections since 1980, including two years when independent candidates ran strongly, 1980 and 1992. It also correctly predicted the outcome in 2000, when Al Gore received the most popular vote but George W. Bush won the election.

It's always about the economy. And the Obama economy is awful. The left can whine and cry about birth control, tax returns, Senator Akin, and dogs on car roofs all they want. The election will come down to the state of the economy and the dreaded 8.3% unemployment rate. Romney will beat Obama.

In 2012, “What is striking about our state-level economic indicator forecast is the expectation that Obama will lose almost all of the states currently considered as swing states, including North Carolina, Virginia, New Hampshire, Colorado, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida,” Bickers said.

"Those expecting Anders Behring Breivik to spend the rest of his days alone in a cramped cell will be disappointed when the far-right fanatic receives his sentence Friday for killing 77 people in a bomb and gun rampage last year.

If declared insane, the confessed killer will be the sole patient of a psychiatric ward that Norway built just for him, with 17 people on staff to treat him.

If found mentally fit, he will remain isolated, for now, in the high-security prison where he disposes of three 86-square-foot (8-square-meter) cells: a bed room, an exercise room and a study.

Officials at Oslo's Ila Prison say the ambition would be to eventually transfer Breivik to a section with other prisoners, who have access to a school that teaches from primary grades through university-level courses, a library, a gym, work in the prison's various shops and other leisure activities.

It's all about a philosophy of humane prison treatment and rehabilitation that forms the bedrock of the Scandinavian penal system.

"I like to put it this way: He's a human being. He has human rights. This is about creating a humane prison regime," said Ellen Bjercke, a spokeswoman for Ila (EE-luh) Prison.

They are on the hands of those running the justice system in Norway, who refuse to enact justice. This is disgusting.

Can Mitt Romney win Wisconsin?

It isn't out of reach.

The most recent polling released last week shows Obama with a 3 point advantage according to Marquette University, and Romney with a 1 point advantage according to the liberal polling source PPP. The most reliable polling source, Rasmussen, has Romney with a 1 point advantage in the state.

The recent addition of Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan to the ticket will certainly help. And the monumental defeat of union backed Democrat Tom Barrett by Governor Scott Walker (for a second time) may be pushing this traditionally blue state further into the red.

In 2008, Barack Obama won Wisconsin by a comfortable 14 point margin. In 2004, John Kerry won Wisconsin by just a 0.38% margin, or a little over 11,000 votes state wide. In 2000, Al Gore won by just a 0.22% margin, or a little over 5,000 votes.

Before 2008, Wisconsin was thoroughly purple, just as it is today. It could be anyone's race in 2012. Expect the results this year to look more like they did in 2004.

And Rahm Emanuel? Even the ignorant layman knows he is a complete crook churned straight out of the Chicago mafia. The mayor of the Windy City is as criminal as they come and only fitting. A criminal running a city full of criminals. Obama and Rahm's Chitown territory might as well be Kandahar or Anbar province. 2 weeks ago, Chicago Police "praised" a drop in homicides in July as evidence the city is moving in a new direction...only 49 people were murdered, instead of 55 in 2011. Currently, the murder rate in Rahm's Chicago is 3 times higher than New York City, and twice as high as both Moscow and Mexico City. Projections have the final 2012 tally above 500 murders by the end of the year. I guess these are the "values" Chicago possesses, ones that a fast food chain called Chick-Fil-A apparently doesn't have.

The fact Obama and the Democrats are even giving this guy a speaking slot at the DNC convention is laughable. They can have him. He represents even more clarity in the 2012 decision. If the citizenry choose the side Rahm Emanuel sits on, God help us.

The Brandon Raub Facebook Posts. Why was he detained?

Brandon Raub is a Marine veteran who was detained last week by the FBI due to some supposedly questionable Facebook comments about the government. His detention (not arrest) has sparked a flurry of activity on the net, with the blogs and message boards abuzz over why Big Brother illegally detained him.

Some say it is because of his 9/11 conspiracy views. Some say because of his inflammatory comments about the government. Like Mr. Raub's Facebook page, which can still be viewed here, the internet is full of millions of blogs, facebook pages, and other websites containing Alex Jones like talking points about the New World Order, 9/11 conspiracy theories, and anarchist ideology in general. After taking a look at Brandon Raub's Facebook wall, it is a little easier to understand why he was detained. Judge for yourself.
In a post James Holmes world, you can bet the government is watching what you say.

I can't say I agree with the government detaining Brandon Raub. But after reading his comments, is there any doubt that maybe he was planning something? Maybe he was just another nutjob with crazed ambitions of being some sort of cult/revolutionary leader, but maybe he actually had something planned. I can definitely see both sides to this issue. The more Joe Biden speaks, the more Republicans gain in the polls. The more he opens his gaffe prone trap, the more idiotic Democrats appear to be. Joe Biden is the gift that keeps on giving for Republicans. He is a valuable asset and I hope we never lose him!

To the countless Obama supporters out there, god bless their souls...this is why your guy won't win.

*Just 29% of likely voters feel the country is moving in the right direction. 63% of likely voters feel the nation is on the wrong track. These numbers have held steady for 2 years under the Obama administration.

*The unemployment rate remains mired at 8.3%. Since FDR, no incumbent has been re-elected with an unemployment rate above 7.2%. Factor in those who have given up looking for work, and the "real" unemployment rate called U6, is around 15%. Florida's U6 unemployment rate is 17% while Ohio and Pennsylvania are at 14%.  Obama has overseen the longest period of above 8% unemployment since the Great Depression.

*2nd quarter GDP growth has slowed to a stagnant 1.5% in 2012. Based on the Abramowitz GDP forecast equation, which correlates incumbent 2nd quarter GDP growth into likely popular vote percentage based on past elections, Obama hovers at just over 50% of the popular vote, hardly enough to get re-elected.

*President Obama's current job approval rating is 47% with 52% disapproving according to Rasmussen. Gallup currently lists Obama's approval rating at 45%. The intensity level of likely voters paints an even grimmer picture with just 24% of likely voters strongly approving of Obama and 43% strongly disapproving. Historically, incumbent presidents with an approval rating below 50% don't win a second term. President Obama's approval rating has hovered at or below 50% the entire year.

*56% of likely voters still remain in favor of repealing Obamacare. Obama's signature piece of legislation is still just as unpopular now as it was when it was signed into law.

*According to Gallup, the top issues American voters care about are creating jobs, reducing corruption in the federal government, and reducing the federal budget deficit, respectively. President Obama is on the wrong side of each one of these.

*Romney's support among youth voters has increased substantially to 40%. Young voters were vital to Obama's 2008 win, favoring him 68% to 30% over John McCain. In order for Obama to win again, he will have to galvanize the youth and black vote like he did in 2008, something that appears less likely by the day.

*Mitt Romney's campaign threatens to overtake the Obama campaign in the money race, something that would have been unheard of in early 2012. Romney outraised Obama by 17 million in May, 35 million in June, and 26 million in July. Money will no longer be an easy advantage for Obama as it was in 2008, when he outspent McCain by a 3:1 margin nationwide.
