Tom Hanks: Racism was behind US involvement in WWII

I stumbled upon this little tidbit over at Stop Marxism.

Tom Hanks, while promoting his new movie "Pacific" was quoted as saying this...

“Back in World War II, we viewed the Japanese as ‘yellow, slant-eyed dogs’ that believed in different gods. They were out to kill us because our way of living was different. We, in turn, wanted to annihilate them because they were different. Does that sound familiar, by any chance, to what’s going on today?”

We wanted to annihilate them because they were different? Ohhhh, ok. See all this time I thought it was because they attacked us at Pearl Harbor! Hey thanks Tom for informing me of this!

You despicable, spineless, anti American scumbag.

With this statement Tom Hanks has spat in the face of each and every soldier who served in the Pacific Theater of World War II. And by suggesting that the current war on terror is driven by racism towards dark skinned Arabs is a cowardly, and disrespectful insult to our current men and women in uniform serving overseas.

He later said in a separate interview that the entire Pacific War was one of  "racism and terror."

Thank you Tom Hanks for further proving to America just how deplorable you Hollywood types are. It is a recurring theme in 21st century Hollywood to criticize America and her fighting men and women. James Cameron. Matt Damon. And now you. Hey you three. Do us all a favor and climb back into the septic tank you all crawled out of you worthless pieces of human garbage.

Oh, and what have we here?

Obama Hosts White House Movie Night with Hanks, Spielberg

Well how cute! I'm sure they will be perfect company for each other.

I think this story deserves EPIC FACEPALM.

And for an actor who has STARRED in WWII movies...

I...I'm speechless... how...how can he be so.... dense... The Japanese attacked us because we placed an embargo on them because of their invasion of China... then they attacked us and pulled us into WWII. Like a recent book said the dragon woke the sleeping Giant...... okay, sorry for ranting, I just feel like when people do this it makes a mockery of our soldiers both past and present.

Daphne: You are 100% correct in your observation. It's good to get it out!

I am grateful to Tom Hanks for providing the definition of an expression I heard in a movie years ago.

"scum sucking pig!"

Could this be why our family hasn't seen a movie since "The Passion of the Christ?"

A better title to this non-story would be, "Ignorance Fuels Outrage." If you actually listened to what Hanks said, and ignored Bill O'Reilly and others trying to make hay off it, and if you had any knowledge of history, you would tone down the hate and volume and realize that what he said is not very controversial and in no way an attack on our veterans. Hanks has done more to honor our veterans and enlighten succeeding generations of their sacrifices than any writer on this webpage (and many others as well). Of course there was racism! Try reading a book sometime. Try watching the Warner Bros and Disney cartoons from that era (not often shown because of the racism). And, of course, the Japanese were racist, too -- oh, you did not catch that point, did you? Too busy attacking Hanks to catch that what he said could well apply to the Japanese? Too busy attacking Hanks to figure that out? Grow up and read a book and quit watching a fool like O'Reilly who works hard every day to rile up folks like you.
