VIDEO: 2012 NCAA Championship- The Fray sings the worst national anthem ever.

In probably the worst rendition I have ever heard, The Fray tonight disgraced the national anthem once again like so many artists these days do. Why do bands and singers feel the need to personalize the national anthem? Shameful. They made Ozzy's rendition of 'Take Me Out to the Ballgame' sound good.

The best ever national anthem performance in my opinion...

Now that's how it should be done. Your thoughts?

  1. The Fray's version was an absolute atrocity...sad when there are so many talented and respectful musicians out there

  8. Yeah it was awful. The guitarist, who also tried to sing backup, picked out the wrong notes in every chord progression and overall the band seemed lost, like they didn't have the decency to practice our national anthem.

  9. While I enjoy the national anthem played traditionally, in this instance, your criticism is off base. This was excellent and I feel more patriotic for it...

  10. It was terrible and anyone who says different doesn't understand patriotism and what the anthem stands for. "More patriotic"...WHATEVER!!

  12. While I do agree the tune was a little bit off, I very much enjoyed it. I thought it had their own touch to it, but not too much that they are trying to steal the show and make it too much about themselves..

  13. It seems that one of the guitar players was playing the wrong notes because the capo was in the wrong place before the song started. Total amateur hour. I'm not trying to be dismissive to those who enjoyed it, but it wasn't progressive or an artist trying something new. More like poor musicianship. I doubt that even Paula would approve.

  15. I think the Frays rendition of our national anthem was a disgrace. And an insult to all the men and women who have fought for our freedom. They should provide a public appology for their performance!

  16. The National Anthem is NOT for artistic interpretation. It is to pay respect to the nation and flag. Those who talk about "making it their own" have obviously not served their country. Disgraceful!
