A melee broke out Tuesday afternoon at Playland Amusement Park when Muslim visitors became angry that the park was enforcing its ban on headgear by prohibiting the women from wearing their traditional head coverings on some rides.
Police from at least nine agencies converged on the park beginning at 3 p.m. after county police sought assistance in responding to the disturbance, which involved 30 to 40 people.
...
The park was crowded with Muslims celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr, one of Islam’s two major holidays. Most were from community groups in Westchester and New York City as part of a daylong event arranged by the Muslim American Society of New York.
“It’s unfortunate because everybody just wants to be home with their families today,” said Zead Ramadan of the Council on American Islamic Relations.
...
Earlier, a park cashier told a Journal News reporter that a woman wearing a hijab either pushed or hit a ride operator who forbade her from going on the ride. She said a police officer tried to restrain the woman and the woman’s husband took offense, at which point a multiple-person fight broke out.
Yet again, we see that the "moderate" American Muslim is no more than a conjured character of the left in order to further deny the threat of Islam. No, these Muslims are not killing anybody. But what does behavior like this tell you? It tells me that they believe they are above the law, that their "religion" makes them superior to all others, and that if anyone questions them, disagrees with them, or tells them they cannot do something they want to do then they are a victim. Like I have said before, Islam is incompatible with American society, and the West in general. Muslims are consciously using our Constitution and leniency against us.
I am sitting in Atlanta International Airport waiting on a flight back to Kuwait while I watch Barack Obama stutter his way through a speech on the economy and jobs in my home state of Illinois. Apparently he is speaking at the headquarters of Wyffels's Hybrids. Not ten seconds after I begin watching he says, "I'd like the thank the Waffles family for...."
Unbelievable. And people think this guy is a good speaker??
He goes on to stress that the problem with America is its politics. Oh joy! Please elaborate Mr. Obama!
I'd like to make the point that Mr. Obama is dead on, yet not quite precise enough. The problem with America is big government politics, HIS politics!
I could go on and on but I just don't have the energy.
The death toll in Iraq yesterday, with at least 70 murdered in attacks across the country, was bad enough. But the scope of the killing carries worrying echoes of the way sectarian warfare ramped up across Iraq starting in late 2003, leading to the country's civil war.
The sheer scale of the activity yesterday makes it hard to dismiss events as the work of a handful of terrorists. Car bombs at a market in the southern city of Kut killed about 40. A suicide attack killed three policemen at the government counterterrorism center in Tikrit, the hometown of executed former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein. Four Iraqi soldiers were killed by a roadside bomb in the Sunni town of Baquba, north of Baghdad. Separate car bombs in Baquba and nearby Khan Bani Saad killed eight.
In the Shiite holy city of Najaf, a suicide car bomb attacked the police headquarters, seeking to open the way for other militants. Seven people were murdered in that attack. There were multiple attacks in the ethnically and religiously mixed city of Kirkuk, with extensive damage done to a Syriac Orthodox Christian church there.
Iraq is fast becoming the next forgotten war. In addition, Afghanistan is also fading into the shadows, even though American troops are still dying there. Americans are tired, they don't care anymore while the economic and entertainment news of the day dominates the headlines.
Pawlenty is out of the race. Gingrich is sputtering. Palin has stayed back in the shadows for too long. That leaves some top tier Republican candidates. Mitt Romney, Ron Paul, Rick Perry, and Michelle Bachmann.
I will keep this short. As you all know, my favorite has been Paul Ryan. I firmly believe Ryan has the very best chance of defeating Obama. He still hasn't announced any plans to run, and I don't think he will in the future. So it's time to assess other candidates.
Let's start with Ron Paul. I have slowly but surely begun to like him to the point where he just might get my vote. I will admit, Ron Paul has a following like no other candidate and he has hung around with tenacity. He is a thorn in the establishment's side. For just that, I like him. He may be the only candidate who offers real change and has a real understanding of the Constitution. He has a spot on approach to free market economics and limited government but when it comes to defense, I do not trust him one iota. Coming in second in this week's straw poll has given him a boost and made the name Ron Paul mainstream.
Mitt for Brains Romney is out of the question. If, by chance, he does get the nomination I will put aside my disgust for his liberalism and support him as the lesser of two evils. As of now, Romney supposedly is the front runner. I have one question. HOW? Every conservative I have talked to hates Romney. He may attract moderates and Democrats but not the Teavangelical vote by any means. Expect Romney's numbers to fall just as they did in 2008. He is just too liberal to get the nomination.
Newcomer Rick Perry has a special appeal. He has substance in the "Texas Miracle" with which he can use against Obama. Perry has the look of a president, much like Reagan, and a record to back it up. It will be interesting to see how Perry handles himself in the coming months. Perry has establishment and evangelical support but it all hinges on if he will be able to nab Tea Party support. I have high hopes for Governor Rick Perry. I think he has a very good chance at defeating Obama should he get the nomination.
Michelle Bachmann. The media hates her and is doing all it can to discredit her much as it did Palin. This morning I watched in disgust on NBC's Meet the Mess with David Gregory as Michele Bachmann was grilled without mercy, first on her belief in God, then on her views on homosexuality. Gregory asked her lamebrain questions repeatedly ("Should wives submit to their husbands?"..."So the man has the last word?"---WTH??) and Bachmann deflected each flaming arrow of liberalism with finesse and professionalism. I don't expect her to get the nomination but if she does, I will vote for her in a heartbeat.
And then there is Sarah Palin. I am sorry if this comes as insulting or offensive to supporters of Sarah Palin but I do not like her as a politician, nor do I think she has any chance of beating Obama should she get the nomination. Sarah Palin is like a withering flower. Her time has come and gone. Yes, she will eventually enter the race with a bang, and her poll numbers will rise. That is only natural. Sarah Palin vs. Barack Obama would be an absolute disaster, especially in the debates. Granted, this is just my opinion.
As of now, I am set on two candidates. Ron Paul or Rick Perry. I would love to hear your input if you have one. Comment below and feel free to vote in the new poll I have posted to the right!
I have often found myself debating with atheists and skeptics alike on the validity and truth of the Bible, as well as the Christian faith in general.
Most of the time people who argue against Christianity do so out of denial, disgust for organized religion in a historical context, and dislike of the modern day "American Christian". You may very well be one of these people. I am here to say I understand you. It is a shame what reputation modern evangelical Christians have given themselves in America. Sex scandals, hypocritical behavior, political priorities, and an overabundance of cult-like denominations all accumulate, brick by brick, in the wall going up between the saved and the lost.
I am here to make a few points. First of all, true Christianity is not an organized religion. In fact, I hate the word. Christianity, in its purest form, is a personal relationship between Jesus Christ and the believer. It is what separates the "religion" shall we say, from all other religions. It is all dependent on one thing and one thing only: Belief in Jesus, and a 100% desire to follow him! Many try to make the point that Christianity and the other main religion of the world, Islam, are essentially the same. This couldn't be further from the truth. If you want to get to the root of that debate, compare Jesus and Mohammad according to historical fact and their beliefs and writings. If you truly do this with an unbiased, open mind, you will find that Jesus was unlike any other spiritual figure in the history of the world, including Mohammad.
Central to the argument for Christianity is the resurrection of Jesus. If this event never happened, the whole belief system falls apart. From a historical perspective, the Resurrection of Jesus Christ after his execution by the Romans two thousand years ago is as established as any other event in history. Why is it you have no trouble whatsoever believing any given fact about Nero, Alexander the Great, or Napoleon but when it comes to Jesus, all of a sudden historical FACT is a fairytale?
Let's get to the Resurrection. I will start by introducing you to a man named Simon Greenleaf. Greenleaf was a professor of law at Harvard University during the late 17 and early 1800s. He was also a skeptic who doubted the validity of the Bible. Greenleaf sought to disprove the Resurrection of Jesus but came to the opposite conclusion instead. You can read his entire conclusion here. One of his arguments involves the twelve disciples of Jesus. Put in layman's terms it goes something like this...
Why, if Christ had never risen from the dead or never exhibited traits of being the son of God, did his disciples continue years after his death to preach the gospel to the point of death?
I still have yet to hear a solid argument. Peter was crucified upside down in the year 64 AD. Andrew was crucified on an X shaped cross, by his own choice. James was executed by the sword in the year 44. Bartholomew was skinned alive and beheaded. Thomas was speared to death. Paul was beheaded around 67. More important than the deaths themselves is the fact that the disciples continued after the death of Jesus to preach, as far east as India and as far west as modern day Spain. More so, the fervent followers of Jesus within the Roman empire and beyond continued to worship him and die for him in the decades after his death. Why?
To put these historical events into context...
The death of Jesus and subsequent persecution of Christians from approx 1 to 60 AD is the same as if John F. Kennedy rose from the dead in 1963 after being shot, galvanizing a religious following into the late 60s all the way until today. We all know of course that this is preposterous. Why then did people worship Jesus to the point of horrible death and martyrdom if Jesus was just another man and didn't raise from the dead?
According to the Gospels, Jesus was seen alive after his death by approximately 500 people, including the disciples. Most atheists and agnostics will immediately dismiss historical documentation simply because it is included in a religious text. This is both narrow minded and stupid. What about secular Roman historian Flavius Josephus who also wrote..."When Pilate, upon the accusation of the first men amongst us, condemned [Jesus] to be crucified, those who had formerly loved him did not cease [to follow him], for he appeared to them on the third day, living again, as the divine prophets foretold, along with a myriad of other marvellous things concerning him."
Often, the denial of the truth written in the Bible is ignorance of historical fact and a refusal to accept it, simply because what is written, what has survived for thousands of years and flourished despite numerous attempts to destroy it, is a "religious" document.
If you choose to believe what is written in the Bible, specifically the Gospels, is not true, then you choose to accept that the Bible is the greatest hoax in the history of mankind. You choose to believe that 40 different authors spanning a period of roughly 1400 years all were in on the same hoax, and all had the same message, with no apparent motive. You also choose to believe that these same people willingly died horribly for this hoax. You believe the prophecies of Micah, Daniel, and Zechariah which were fulfilled is recorded history hundreds of years later were simply false. I say, you have an imagination I thought never existed.
And now I get to the original intent of my post. This video of Ravi Zacharias is what I originally wanted to share. Whether you are a Christian, an Atheist, a Muslim, or just someone in search of truth, I urge you to watch.
Recently while in Iraq my buddy downloaded a movie I hadn't heard of called 'Ironclad'. I looked it up on IMDB and it looked promising so once it was done downloading we all huddled around the laptop, which was hooked up to a nice subwoofer, and watched it.
Boy was I blown away. Completely. This movie was awesome from start to finish. In terms of blood, guts, and medieval brutality this movie makes Braveheart and 300 look like child's play. I am not squeamish when it comes to gore and neither are my friends here (we are all medics) and we all like "man movies" as much as the next guy. This movie had us literally yelling and cringing and jumping to our feet during the battle scenes.
The battles are intense and real, no choreography is even noticeable. I have never seen a historical war movie where it actually looks like the actors are trying to kill each other. In Ironclad, you are almost convinced what you are watching is real.
Another highlight of this under advertised movie that I simply cannot overlook is the brilliance of Paul Giamatti. This guy is fast becoming one of my all time favorite actors because he never disappoints. Giamatti plays the ruthless King John of England with such a sinister aura of realism, it is almost eerie. His acting in Ironclad ranks as one of the top ten best acting performances I have ever seen...from anybody in any movie. Brian Cox's performance should also not be overlooked.
A third and final praise I would like to express is the fact this film did not contain any politically correct feminist garbage. By that I mean we are not subjected to seeing any sort of unrealistic female warrior heroine cutting her way through a sea of male opponents. As was the case in factual history, men do the fighting in this movie. At one point the Templar knight says to the lady of the castle..."I fight, so you don't have to." That is chivalry, and quite unheard of in 2011 Hollywood if you ask me.
It is a shame this film was undercut by the studio. It's release was pitifully buried. I consider it a miracle I even found out about this movie.
If you have an interest in historical war movies, medieval brutality, or any film with guts, gore, and good old fashioned chivalry I highly recommend Ironclad.
Yes, I said it. And you and I both know it is true. It is sometimes subtle, and sometimes not.
I look around in our society and I see the gradual demasculinization of men. What do I mean by this?
I mean men being portrayed as weak, insecure, dependent puppy dogs of women. Look at today's commercials. Next time you are watching TV, pay close attention to the commercials. Count how many times, when a couple is shown, that the man actually speaks instead of the woman. Or better yet, count how many times a man is portrayed as a strong figure instead of a bumbling fool in need of his wife's counsel. It is rare.
What made me want to post this? Try taking a stroll through any "prep" store in your local mall.
Today I was shopping for swimming trunks. I had no idea it would be so difficult finding a pair of swimming trunks that didn't reek of absolute metrosexuality. First I made the mistake of looking in Hollister. That store is, well...let's just say it isn't my style. I looked in American Eagle, Abercrombie and Fitch, and Pac-Sun (God forgive me!). I thought I was witnessing a gay pride parade. Not only were the clothes all things feminine (male and female alike), the males themselves looked like women with facial hair.
Needless to say, I finally found a pair of decent looking non gay swimming trunks from Macy's while saving 40+ bucks.
And I will never make the mistake of shopping in Hollister again.
Witnesses' accounts claim everything from dozens to hundreds of young black people beating white people as they left State Fair Thursday night.
Authorities have not given official estimates of the number of people involved in the attacks.
"It looked like they were just going after white guys, white people," said Norb Roffers of Wind Lake in an interview with Newsradio 620 WTMJ. He left the State Fair Entrance near the corner of South 84th Street and West Schlinger Avenue in West Allis.
"They were attacking everybody for no reason whatsoever."
"It was 100% racial," claimed Eric, an Iraq war veteran from St. Francis who says young people beat on his car.
"I had a black couple on my right side, and these black kids were running in between all the cars, and they were pounding on my doors and trying to open up doors on my car, and they didn't do one thing to this black couple that was in this car next to us. They just kept walking right past their car. They were looking in everybody's windshield as they were running by, seeing who was white and who was black. Guarantee it."
Eric, a war veteran, said that the scene he saw Thursday outside State Fair compares to what he saw in combat.
"That rated right up there with it. When I saw the amount of kids coming down the road, all I kept thinking was, 'There's not enough cops to handle this.' There's no way. It would have taken the National Guard to control the number of kids that were coming off the road. They were knocking people off their motorcycles."
Another witness, who asked to remain anonymous, said, "it was like a scene you needed the National Guard to control."
"To me, it looked like a scene out of a movie," claimed the anonymous witness.
"We exited at the Schlinger and 84th exit, and we walked south about a block, and then went up and got our car, came back up and around down Schlinger. When we made a left hand turn, we were stopped in traffic. I looked toward the bridge, right before you get on the freeway, and all I saw was a road full of black kids, jumping over people's cars, jumping on people's hoods, running over the top of them."
Eric then claimed that he saw hundreds of young black people coming down a sidewalk.
"I saw them grab this white kid who was probably 14 or 15 years old. They just flung him into the road. They just jumped on him and started beating him. They were kicking him. He was on the ground. A girl picked up a construction sign and pushed it over on top of him. They were just running by and kicking him in the face."
Then, Eric talked about trying to get out of the car to help the victim.
"My wife pulled me back in because she didn't want me to get hit. Thankfully, there was surprising a lady that was in the car in front of me that jumped out of the car real quick and went over there to try to put her body around the kid so they couldn't see he was laying there and, obviously, defenseless. Her husband, or whoever was in the car, was screaming at her to get back into the car. She ended up going back into the car. These black kids grabbed this kid off the ground again, and pulled him up over the curb, onto the sidewalk and threw him into the bushes like he was a piece of garbage."
I am curious what your reaction is to this story. Because mine is this: Typical. This is the bread and butter of Obama's America. The is the reality behind the lies of false "hope" and "equality". Democrats I believe, and leftists in general (not just in America but everywhere) are masters of social chaos and disorder. Dependency on the government has bred the minorities into a useless, disenfranchised, parasitic group of people. The media's claims of "an end to racism as we know it" with the election of Obama is one of the greatest lies of the past decade. I argue, the election of Barack Obama has worked in the opposite direction, like a monstrous wedge driving deep between whites and blacks, in addition to countless political and ideological subgroups. He is the Great Divider. But this is a whole new topic entirely, and we could talk about Obama's Saul Alinsky inspired radical social philosophy of destruction for hours. Instead, let's focus on the issue at hand. Ghetto thuggery.
This isn't the first time we have seen packs of wild negro teenagers roving the streets of cities across America looting and attacking people. This whole summer we have seen the work of these in heat animals. What is it that fuels such violence among black youths in this country? I am no expert but I believe it is fueled primarily by three things.
1) Rap Music/Culture
Look at the lyrics to any 50 Cent, Kanye West, Puff Daddy or Snoop Dog song and you can see how a group of susceptible young people can adopt said principles of moral nonexistence.
3) The Election of Barack Obama
The entitlement mentality has increased significantly. So has the "Get Back at Whitey" attitude. Payback was given in 2008 in the political realm but it does not stop there. The violence against whites is black frustration manifested by those who are not afraid to actually do it...teenagers with no fear.
It will only continue to get worse as the economy continues to tumble in its inevitable downward slide. Along with it will come the social disorder, racial strife, and general anarchy that every nation experiences when their economy crumbles. Democrats and white Berkeley, New England, and Wisconsin liberals (who have deep seeded racism and contempt for minorities more than anyone I might add) love to blame racism on "Southerners" and backwards conservatives who hate Obama. I blame it on incidents like this. Maybe they will wake up in Madison.
Today is Our Dear Leader's 50th birthday. In reverence, respect, and worship of Him let us celebrate by meditating on His teachings and ingesting some of his Kenyawaiian inspiration.
"Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek."
"The thing about hip-hop today is it's smart, it's insightful. The way they can communicate a complex message in a very short space is remarkable."
"America and Islam are not exclusive and need not be in competition. Instead, they overlap, and share common principles of justice and progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings."
"Americans... still believe in an America where anything's possible - they just don't think their leaders do."
"We need earmark reform, and when I'm President, I will go line by line to make sure that we are not spending money unwisely."
"I don't take a dime of their [lobbyist] money, and when I am president, they won't find a job in my White House."
"I've been fighting with Acorn, alongside Acorn, on issues you care about, my entire career."
